Both girls were named Mary, and they were raised at the same time. Most girls named Mary were hoping that they would be the mother of the Chosen One—the long-awaited Christ. One of them is chosen, but she is not allowed to tell anyone. She and Joseph are married right away, and people in Nazareth spread rumors about Mary’s virginity.

Jesus was born in Bethlehem. Joseph got a job as a carpenter there. The three wise men followed the star to Bethlehem to find God’s Only Begotten Son. King Herod demanded all the children aged two and under be slain. Joseph was told to go to Egypt to save the child’s life. When it was safe, Joseph took his small family to Nazareth to live there. Jesus tried to teach the Gospel in Nazareth, but the people didn’t believe him, so he left to teach the people in Jerusalem. This is the second book in the trilogy.

Jesus found that he wasn’t able to teach in Nazareth, so he decided to go to Jerusalem to try to teach there. On the way, he meets someone who is beaten by two men. And he is very interested in Jesus’ teachings and decides to follow him everywhere. While Jesus is teaching, Benjamin is learning and has great admiration for his teacher. He stays at Jesus’ side up until the end.
